Welcome baby...

We got our first real glimpse at baby #4 yesterday. Jordan and I both agree that we are going to have another Avery/Sully looking baby, not a Lauren. Cindy saw the pictures and she agrees too.

The 3D ultrasound is just remarkable. The baby was curled up pretty tight in a ball but we got a couple of good face pictures. We even have video of the baby waving at us but I cant upload it! :(

After 1.5 hours of it I was ready to get up and go get something to eat...cant wait for July!!!!

Opps

I just broke Avery's heart.

I told her that when Daddy and I get home tonight we'll have pictures of the baby to show her.

Her eyes got HUGE and she said, "The baby's coming out TODAY!!!"

She almost fell out of her chair.

So then trying to explain how the dr. could get pictures of the baby while it is still inside was pretty much impossible.

She's crushed.

Day #3

Seriously, no school again! I told Lauren this morning that at this rate she was going to be going to school right up till the day school starts up again in August.

GO AWAY WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Ahhhhhh, relief...

It's OVER! I've been working on the hospital's All That Glitters Gala for about 6 weeks and this past week has been very busy. But, yesterday went great and we got the night completed before any bad weather hit. We had over 130 people and from what I could tell everyone had a good time. I'll figure out tomorrow how much money the event raised. The main sponsor for the evening was a local jeweler who gave a huge diamond and topaz pendant and chain as well as 6 other loose stones averaging 6 carats each! Watching the winners of the stones as their names were announced from the raffle was really fun!

Today I was ALMOST happy about the 56th snow storm of the season, it was great to stay inside, enjoy the kids, take a nap and basically just relax. Looks like school is atleast delayed for tomorrow...will winter ever end!

Here are a couple of pictures of some of those at our table...

Nick and Stacie

Mel and Jason

Jordan and I dancing - the picture of me at the table with Jordan made me appear FAR too pregnant...cant imagine why.

The centerpiece. It was MUCH prettier in real life.

My Valentine girls...

You'd have to be pretty cold hearted not to love Valentines Day with these two girls around!

Lots going on...

Its been a crazy week. I helped at Lauren's Valentines Party on Thursday and had a really good time. Avery and Sully got to have a Valentines Party at Stacies as well so they felt like big kids. Avery had a blast.

Saturday night is the hospital's Gala and I feel like I've already put in 60 hours this week and the actual day of the event isn't even here yet! Hopefully tomorrow I wake up with renewed energy. I know it will be worth it and by tomorrow night I'll be basking in the feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment I get after an event like this is successful.

Here are a couple of Valentine's pictures, the girls have on their Valentines necklaces from Grandma Barb and their Valentine shirts from Grandma Cindy. Sully's got his Valentine's cupid bear - he LOVES that thing!

On the go!!

Oh my heart...

2 years of Sully

Daddy's boy

Easter 2006

Happy 2nd Birthday, Sullivan Joseph!!

Oh my little Sully, I don't even know where to begin. How could 2 years have passed so quickly? I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. I will never forget the look on your daddy's face or the tears in his eyes when he whispered to me, "Its my boy!" He was so proud and so excited for the years to come with you. What a gift we were given with our first son.

As I look back over the past 2 years I am reminded of the special things about you that I know God did just for me! Four months after you were born your Papa Richard went to heaven. During that heartbreaking time I had a special friend, a little bundle who loved to be cuddled, who loved to smile and coo and spend hours staring into my face. With your little face so many cares seemed to be lifted from my heart. I will never be able to explain how much you did for me as a 4 month old!

The following spring and summer you decided to fill your mom and dad, and just about everyone else with worry. We spent some long days and nights worrying that your little legs really didn't want to walk or stand. But it turns out that God was using this to teach mommy and daddy something - to trust in Him more. It could be he was also trying to tell mommy that she doesn't have everything figured out when it comes to being a mom as well!

You walked on your own schedule and now when I look at you I am just in awe. I never thought that simply seeing a little boy run into a room at full speed could fill me with such unexplainable joy. Your walking, running and dancing is a constant reminder to me that our God is good. Our God is able to do miracles. I love that reminder and I will never grow tired of it. I hope you wont either. I pray that you will remeber these verses as you grow, they helped me so much as you were learning to walk, Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." and Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."

Sully we love having you as our son. We love watching you be a boy. To play with cars, to enjoy football and basketball with dad. Sword fights and wrestling, spitting and yes, even tooting!

You've turned our world upside down in every way imagineable and I wouldn't change it for the world.

After two years all I can really say is, I am so very very blessed that God sent you to live at my house! I love being your mommy.

Baby Channing Lee

One thing I love about my husband is HIS love for babies...

Jamie and Mikel were kind enough to lend Channing to us last night for awhile during Jason's party. Channing seemed to kind of like him too!

Birthday Spankings

He looks tortured doesn't he!

The Birthday Boys

Sully turned 2, Jason turned 30!

Cake

He also loves cake...

CARS Party

Sully had a great time at his party even though his cousins weren't able to make it due to the bad roads.
This boy LOVES CARS!

No one would really cooperate for a picture in their race car hats. (Sully still wanted to wear his jack-o-lantern helmet)

One of his favorite presents is a McQueen blanket.

Sweet Little Baby Assa

Last night some friends of ours were asking Avery what she wanted to name the baby.

Her answer, "Assa."

Hm, we'll have to consider that. Melanie wanted to know what we would call her for short. Avery didn't really have an answer for that, thankfully.

I think its safe to say that the name search continues.

Sully, how old are you going to be?

TWO!!!!!!

The more the merrier

Well I am FINALLY starting to feel better. I think I have learned from this...go to the dr. BEFORE you've been sick for 3 weeks.
The most annoying thing right now is that I still cannot hear properly.

So Tuesday Avery complained of a sore throat and was very lazy all day but no temp. Tuesday night she was up and threw up a couple of times so I figured she had strep - classic Avery strep. So we went to the dr. here in town yesterday and the test was negative so that's good. Avery thew up all over the dr. during the test. She looks up at us with these sad little watery eyes and says, "I'm sorry, but don't stick that thing down my throat then. It hurts!"
The dr. and I both cracked up.
Avery went to bed last night seeming pretty much better. This morning her spirit seems to be back!

At 5 this morning, Lauren came in and said her throat hurt really bad and she needed to puke. The beauty of a 6 year old throwing up is that they make it to the toilet - oh how I am thankful for that!!! No changing sheets, clothes and giving a bath in the night.
So she is home from school again after the snow day yesterday. Although now she is playing very happily with Avery and I'm wondering if she shouldn't be in school after all...

I'm hoping the birthday boy doesn't catch the bug and we remain free of all kinds of illness for the birthday weekend ahead!!

Kicks

Jordan just felt the baby kick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this not amazing?

Im 18 weeks this week, here's what Baby #4 is up to:

Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Our ultrasound is in 2 weeks, I cant wait!

Sad Little Patriots

Bill Belichick (note the unmistakeable gray hooded sweatshirt) and his star quaterback Tom Brady, (note those unmistakeable killer blue eyes) were pretty sad after Sunday's upset.

They were also pretty mad...

But unlike the real Patriots, mine were all better after a hug.

Love you man!

We love Sully

Sully loves to sit on laps, when Jordan and I arent available he takes his sisters'. Cute

Better

It is truly amazing what an afternoon in bed and 3 doses of antibiotic can do for a person. I am migraine free for the first time in so long I truly cant remember. It has become normal for me to have a headache - hopefully not anymore!

I dont have much appetite yet or energy but the scale at the dr.'s office proved that the no appetite thing is not stopping my weight gain!
The house is back in a little order and I am planning to head to bed and wake up a new person!

Happy Birthday!

With the exception of a splitting migraine (cant take my normal cure all because of the baby in my belly) and sinus issues that have plagued me for a couple of weeks now, I had a wonderful birthday weekend.
Many phone calls and cards, a night out with my husband, (who embarrased me by asking the Texas Roadhouse gang to announce my special day to the crowd - and making me sit on a saddle and then receive a not-worth it bowl of ice cream), a superbowl/birthday party at my mom's with Nick, Stacie and Livvie, breakfast in bed with all my kids and some great presents!
I truly love breakfast in bed with my kids. We normally spill, I have to share my eggs, toast and yogurt, and undoubtedly someone starts crying, but I love it. I know that in 10 years I will really really want breakfast in bed with my kids and they will refuse. I LOVE this time and memories we are making.
I also received the game Blokus, a puzzle and a stow and go puzzle mat from Jordan and the kids. I've wanted a stow and go puzzle mat for years, literally.

Today I woke up feeling no better after going to bed at 7:30 last night. So I gave in and went to the dr. Yep, sinus infection and double ear infection! (what am I 3?)
The dr. said the migraines are very likely a direct result of the sinus infection, which I've probably had for weeks. I've got good drugs now and plan to sleep the afternoon away.

Fridge

My fridge has been driving me crazy. Its covered in random photos and the kids coloring and drawings hung with magnets that are constantly falling off.
I took everything off, cleaned it and only put a few back up. I'm going to keep it that way.

And now I feel better. It must be a pregnancy thing.

If only the fact that the inside is a disgusting mess would bother me enough to clean it. Mom, I'm leaving that to you I think.

Question

All I want to know is who dumped the pepper into the container of mandarian oranges????

Book worm

Last week Lauren said, Mommy, I'm going to read a book to you. I said ok and figured she'd make up a story as we paged through a book.
I was amazed when my little Lauren started reading the book word for word, sounding out the big words and breezing through the small ones.
I kept quiet until she was done quite awhile later. I said, Lauren Elaine! You know how to read! When did that happen!?
She informed me that she's known for awhile, but mostly just on the school books - which I figured out are small books that are largely repetitive.

We'll they've created a reading monster. She can't get enough. She tries to read everything and is reading to Avery and Sully.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!

Here she is with the first 'real' book (her words) she ever read to me.

You know you've lost it when...

Tonight CARS was on for about the 27th time in a week while we were playing in the living room (its been cold outside and we've all been sick!)Anyway, you know you've lost or are really pregnant when you're suddenly bawling during this movie.

All I know is McQueen and Sally were remembering the good ole' days for the town of Radiator Springs and James Taylor started singing 'Our Town' and I was bawling. Jordan came over and sweetly asked if I was ok and even told me that this part got to him too (we are a bunch of saps). Next thing I know both Lauren and Avery are on my lap asking if I was ok and why I was crying. I told them the song made me sad. Avery sweetly ensured me that I was not crazy - so cute.

I couldn't really explain it to them. I was thinking about my dad and how he always talked about growing up in his little town, about the good ole' days, about our little town and our good ole' days, all the memories we have here with good friends and each other.

Suddenly it seems that everything is changing and everyone around me is growing up or leaving us. We had family game night tonight and as I looked around the table it hit me that even 1 year ago we wouldn't have been able to have family game night because the kids weren't old enough. Now the girls play like pros and Sully sits and watches intently and throws cards at us from his own card game going on, on the side. Next year what will it be like? Will Sully be playing along just as fiercly as his sisters? Will the baby be the one playing at our feet as we have family game night with popcorn and laughter? And how many more years do we have before the idea of family game night sends them heading for their rooms?

All I know is if I had three wishes tonight one of them would definetly be used for a pause button. I really want one of those. I also know that its pretty sad that James Taylor and Pixar can get me this worked up but I'm pregnant, give me a break.

Here are the lyrics to the song that got me started down memory lane tonight.

Long ago, but not so very long ago,
The world was different, oh yes it was.
You settled down and you build a town and made it live,
And you watched it grow, it was your town.

Time goes by, time brings changes, you change too.
Nothing comes that you can't handle so on you go.
You never see it coming, when the world caves in on you,
On your town, there's nothing you can do.

Main street isn't main street anymore.
Lights don't shine as brightly as they shone before.
To tell the truth, lights don't shine at all,
In our town.

Sun comes up each morning, just like it's always done,
Get up, go to work, and start the day.
You open up for business, it's never gonna come,
As the world roles by, a million miles away.

Main street isn't main street, anymore.
No one seems to need us, like they did before.
It's hard to find a reason left to stay,
But it's our town, We love it anyway.

Come what may, it's our town.

Cute Sully

Just some recent cuteness...

Silly Sully - Sully wasn't feeling very good this weekend but still gave us some cute smiles!

Hip-hop Sully (this is how he dances, Im not seeing any real good moves!)

Football Sully - one day last week Sully waited and waited with his helmet and ball for Daddy to come home from work so they could play football. It was so cute to see how excited he was for some time with Dad.

Artists

Lauren has always been my artistic dreamer who could sit and color for hours. I never saw this coming out of Avery. But for the past few weeks she has been coloring anything she can get her hands on. I actually had to go buy more color books because she filled all the pages of all the others! Her small motor skills are developing at an amazing rate. She'll bring us pictures and we don't believe that she colored them, we think she took one of Lauren's. She is having a blast and Lauren loves to have a coloring partner. They are so cute together - praising each other's work and giving advice on which colors to use where.

Avery's new 'friend'

Avery has developed a real love for Izzy. Especially in the afternoons when Avery is 'resting' on the couch.
The problem is that Avery does not have a great history of being gentle with Isabel. So Izzy is hesitant of this new bond. Avery is never hesistant in her relationships so its been pretty fun to watch! As you can see, Izzy is being forced to accept the love.

The creeping crud

Its really going around our house. I've had a cough for what seems like 6 weeks, Avery literally has had a nasty cough since the 2nd week in December, Sully has croup and Lauren has a cough but not too bad.
Poor Sully being the youngest seems to be getting the worst of it. He's had it rough since this weekend. The silver lining is that when Sully's sick, all he wants is to be rocked and hold his blankie. I can handle that. The bad part is, he also wants to watch CARS over and over. The girls and I are about to OD on that movie.
I'm not sure what's worse - Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses or CARS.
I guess it could be worse - it could be something like Barney or the Wiggles. I'll count my blessings! :)

Wonderful news

So yesterday I was shopping with Melanie all afternoon and was having a lot of contractions. I got home and they really didn't want to go away until I was laying in bed completely not moving.
Then today, they started up again. I was just minding my own business sitting in a meeting and they started. And they were fairly strong. I figured ok, I'm only 16 weeks, I better call and see what the Dr. says.

And like I knew they would, they said if they aren't consistent and getting stronger just try to relax and not move around and they should go away. Well of course that will be easy. Going home to 3 kids will be very relaxing.

They were also nice enough to inform me that the more kids you have, the sooner you'll start experiencing these fun contractions. I don't think I signed up for this. I am not up for 6 months of contractions, that is not written in any of the books I've read.

A girl after my own heart

Avery just looked out the window and said, "If we had grass I would sure be happier."

Its the little things

We got a new garbage disposal this week and it is amazing how happy it is making me! I could stand there and watch it suck stuff up all day. And boy does it suck it up! Our old one was practically worthless.

I guess considering how much the Tim Allen version cost us and what it cost to have the plumber install it while he was here fixing a pipe issue, it really isnt a little thing but I do love it!
