Beach town tour

Friday morning we headed North towards San Francisco. We took the scenic route to view the coast and stop at some beaches and points of interest.
I am already planning a trip back here with Jordan and likely my eventual retirement spot. Even if it is in the midst of the political and economic dumpster fire that is California.
The Central California coast is my new favorite place in the US. The darling beach towns and gorgeous rocky beaches, scenic drives and cooler temperatures have stolen my heart. I just cant decide if I should settle in Cambria or Carmel.
Our first stop wasnt something we planned and I am SO glad we stopped because it was so special...a seal elephant viewing spot. They come here twice a year and stay a month and then take another month to travel back to Alaska. That whole time they do not eat! 1 month to get here, stay a month, one month back home....no food. And they do this twice a year!
They sound like elephants and have mini trunks....never knew this species existed!
Tori befriended one of the staff members and we got a full education. I think we could have stayed all day.

Next stop was moonstone beach in Cambria. The highlight here may have been their crazy population of squirrels. They would have easily let us touch and maybe even hold them. And there were so many. Ew.
Jordan did find some moonstone too.
Next stop Pfeiffer Beach. It involved a 2 mile drive down a one lane dirt road that had 2 directions of traffic...it was nuts.
But wow, worth it.

Lauren's picture says it all.
I understand why its referenced in songs and literature.

After Pfeiffer we were tired ready for food and to be out of the car. We ended up in Carmel...cutest upscale town with a European feel. We found a pizzeria and were welcomed in and treated like regulars.

We arrived in San Francisco in time to head to bed. 😃 ❤
