The power is out for the Loving Family...

Tonight Lauren and Avery were playing with the doll house and Lauren came over and told us that their power was out.
I guess she has been listening to a lot of conversations about power outages over the past few days. I just want to remember that she said that because it was so cute. They really pay close attention to our conversations! Scary.

The funny thing is, the power really is out in the doll house...the batteries wore out!

The Dwarf - he stole the show for us...his dwarf voice was a riot!

ASLAN!!!

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

We had gotten Lauren tickets to this play a long time ago thinking we would give it to her as a present after her surgery.
With the weather we figured the play would be cancelled. I called at 12 and they said it was on. Uh-oh, we had an hour to get everyone ready, beg Cindy to take Sully for us and be on the road.
I am so glad we went. The girls loved it. After about 5 minutes of the play Avery whisphered in my ear, "When does the movie start?" I laughed out loud...so cute and funny. But she got used to the play and loved every second. She has seen parts of the movie with Jordan, Lauren hasnt seen any of it. Avery loves Tumnus the most!
Sully slept for 4 HOURS at Cindy's and hardly knew we were gone. He is feeling much better and this is the first day since Tuesday that no one has thrown up, although there are still 4 hours left to today! We plan to lay low tomorrow and get back to 100% health.

The saga continues...

When Jody first started her blog she said it was cheaper than therapy. I am in full agreement of that now. That will explain the rash of entries from me over the past 4 days of illness in my house! It keeps me sane.

Anyway, Jordan thought it would be a good idea to take Lauren and Avery to the movie tonight while I stayed home with Sully. Ok, great idea. $.99 movie for the girls and they would get out of the house. Avery didnt look real good as they were leaving the house - her diareha is still active. But I thought hey, they need to get out.

Jordan called 1/2 hour into the movie - Yep, Lauren threw up. But at least she is old enough to get to the bathroom.

I got very upset when Jordan called to tell me and I had my own personal tantrum, (Sully looked at me like I had lost it), but then it hit me. God so had this in his plans. If Lauren hadn't gotten her bladder infection she would have had surgery today. And now we would be dealing with a child with the flu post-op. That would have been much worse.

So, keeping that in mind, I am thanking God for his mercies and I am heading to bed in hopes of a couple of hours sleep before some needs me.

Pity Party

Just when I thought it was ending...I walked into get Sully up from his nap to find him covered and vomit and diarreha.

If one more person tells me they 'remember those days' I might vomit myself.

Sorry, had to get that out.

Pics

I forgot to post the pictures!

Pre-op

Lauren and I went over for her Pre-Op Party on Tuesday. I was so proud of her. She swears she is not scared or nervous and with Lauren it is easy to tell if she is scared of nervous, so I know she is telling the truth.
I asked her today if she knew why she had to have surgery. She said no. I felt terrible. We havent even explained why?!?!?!
I told her that this would help her to hear us better and get all the gunk out of her nose and throat.
She said oh, and walked away.
Oh to be 5!

Progress

Avery is fighting with Lauren, Sully is getting in the cereal/chip cupboard and making a mess. I love it.
They are getting back to normal, slowly. Sully and Avery are still cranky and look pretty pathetic this am but here are some fun pictures. They are trying to be good!

Update

We trudged back to the Dr. today. I had to take Cindy with me because I knew I could not handle Avery and Sully on my own. They both want to be held at all times.
First we went to see the ENT for Lauren's ear check up. The ears are looking good.
Then we went to the pediatrician for Lauren's pre-op physical and a look at Sully and Avery's flu progress.
Lauren turned up with a bladder infection and so surgery is delayed one week. She'll have surgery on the 2nd.
Avery has gotten herself rehydrated since yesterday. Very cranky but ok.
Sully is borderline. It is hard to keep a 1 year old hydrated. Very cranky - his temper is really showing through! I thought he didnt have a temper.

When we got home I fed them all lunch and it has all stayed down. YEAH! They are napping now. I am cleaning what used to look like my house!

Pray that Lauren remains flu-free!

Wednesday morning

Things I cant have enough of when my kids are sick
1. kids washcloths
2. kids hooded bathtowels
3. laundry detergent
4. all purpose cleaner and paper towels
5. sheets and other bedding
6. hugs and kisses

Things I am grateful for...
Even though they are throwing up - they dont have fevers - if they did have fevers - the medicne box is stocked with tylenol
My dr.'s office encourages me to call with questions and never acts like I am a nuisance
I have an ER 2 minutes from my door
my washer and dryer are old - but they keep plugging away - load after load after load
My mother-in-law has Lauren quaranteened at her house to try to keep her healthy for surgery on Friday
Im not pregnant...ha, sorry that was a joke, Ive had less than 2 hours of sleep, Im a little punchy!

Zeno's

We went to Zenos for supper on Valentine's Night. We took our moms and my brother Joe met us there. It was fun, Avery was wild.

I would have posted the picture of my mom and I but it was horrible. Sorry mom!

Valentine's Candy

The girls and I made Valentines suckers and candy on Wednesday am. It was suprisingly easy (I bought a kit) and a lot of fun. The girls pretty much did it all on their own and it turned out great!

Dr.'s Appointments

If I could build a house anywhere I wouldnt choose the beach or the mountains. I would choose a spot smack between our pediatrician's office and Walmart. Those two places are like second homes to me.

Anyway, I had Sully's one year well child appt. today. I cant seem to locate the little card with all his stats but he weighs between 21 and 22 pounds - 50th% (seems like way more to me...he is heavy!)
And he is just over 31 inches tall - over 75th%
Whatever his head measured at is completely off the charts - my kids have mongo heads.
We found out that he has a nasty ear infection. Both ears actually. Im so frustrated with this. Sully had RSV when he was 2 weeks old but really has not been sick since. He has never been on an antibiotic except for the ear infection he had along with RSV at that time. Now I find out that he has this terrible ear infection. He showed no signs of being sick or hurting.
How am I supposed to know he is sick then?!?!?!
The dr. said that was his concern too. That he may have ear infections like Lauren and we'll never know and they could cause loss of hearing like Lauren. ugh. So, I guess we have to keep an eye on that. Because of the infection we will go back next week for Sully's immunizations. (another trip!)
I told the Dr. that Sully just started to pull himself to a standing position in the last month. And he isnt very good at it. Sometimes it really seems to hurt him...he cries while doing it. Dr. said that his hips and legs look completely normal, he is just doing the standing bit somewhat late. But we are going to go back in one month and if he isnt improving there we might look into some physical therapy for stregthening purposes.
Ugh again.

But over all Sully looks great and he is so stinking happy all the time, I have no complaints.

I love to compare how they grow...at one:
Lauren weighed just over 24 pounds and was 31 inches long - I am so shocked that she was bigger than he is. He seems so big to me.
(I cant find Avery's book right now either. ugh again!) :)

Valentine's Eve

The most recent reasons that I love my husband –

1. How he can dance for what seems like an eternity on his knees with his baby girls. They make him spin, bow, ask for the dance, kiss their hands, and then do it all over again. And he never complains.
2. That he knows all the names to the 7 dwarves and most all the princesses, and their coordinating princes and doesn’t understand how a father of daughters couldn’t know that.
3. When he gets up at 4 am to go to work instead of going in late the night before – ‘because he wants to spend time with me instead’
4. The way he looked when he got dressed up in ‘bat gear’ to go catch a bat in my mom’s kitchen last week. Every inch of him was completely covered – he even had on ski goggles so his eyes were protected.
But, he wasnt afraid of the bat. Hmmm?
5. How he misses my dad almost as much as I do and thinks about him and talks about him all the time.
6. The love, support patience, understanding, affection and strength that he has shown to over the past 8 months since my dad died. I have never felt his love more and I will never be able to repay him.

Happy Valentines Day Jordan.
