After biking all afternoon we made a last minute decision to head over to the lake tonight for some more biking, as if my legs hadn't had enough...
As we were heading down the spillway and over a bridge I could hear Lauren giggling behind me. At the bottom she said "Mommy that was so fun and that is the biggest waterfall I have EVER seen!!"
I realized that this might be a night that she will not forget. A childhood memory imprinted in her mind. It made me so happy and took me back to the hundreds of summer nights that my family spent at local parks and forests.
I can remember rattle snake hunts, hikes, mushroom & aspragus hunting, hide & seek, camping, smores, cuts and scraps and countless hotdogs. I told Jordan that my most happy and vivid childhood memories were at parks and campsites with my family.
It made me happy but it made me miss my dad so much. Miss his smile and his laughter - which no matter where my brothers and I were in the park - we could loudly hear! He really had a one in a million, contagious laugh. I miss him. I miss him so much my heart is hurting tonight, but the memories are still good and they make me smile. I love you dad and thank you.

Dance, Dance, Dance
Lauren had a big weekend of dance. Rehersal on Friday and then hair, make-up and recital on Saturday night. The recital started at 6:30 and was very very long. We had quite the crew there cheering her on. Uncle Robert came along and Im sure he wanted to leave the moment he walked in the door. But I also think he cheered the loudest. Both grandmas and mommy had their fair share of tears.
Unfortunetly the recital was in a gym and all the pictures of her on stage are so dark you can basically just see her eyes...
Now, I now I am biased, but I am not the only one who felt she stole the show. Three people told me that! Lauren was by far the youngest to have a solo - and she had 2!!! and then danced in one group number that was a total chaotic riot!
Lauren never ceases to amaze us. What we most proud of was how much fun she had while dancing. She smiled and giggled, sang along to her music and loved every second. A natural performer. But then she stopped me in my tracks when before her last number she asked me if we could pray to Jesus to help her dance well. I love this little girl.
We had such a great night and I think I am hooked on dance. We plan to have Avery take lessons next year too.
Scary kitty!

Weekend
It was a busy weekend, a suprise birthday party for a friend, showers for Kylie, Sully has been under the weather and Uncle Robert came home. He'll be home for a month and the girls are SO excited.
Here are some pictures from the weekend.
Jamie turned 30 this weekend, we had so much fun suprising her. Her almost 4 year old then got to suprise all of us by announcing that in December Jamie will have a baby! So happy for them.
Uncle Robert and Avery. What scares me is how much like Robert Avery is!! :)
Lauren can never decide what she really wants to be. Here she is as ballerina, cowgirl, butterfly catcher.
The strange combo worked - she caught a butterfly.

Mother's Day
Every year for Mother's Day I want the same thing. Some time outdoors and a nap.
I got both this year. This year I also asked for a picture with all three kids - maybe that one will go better next year.
I got spoiled by Jordan and the kids. This 'bicycle built for two' attachment was one of my gifts. Lauren LOVES it and it so fun that we can go on bike rides as an entire family. We rode practically all day. Tonigh my legs are pretty tired.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Best Friends
This morning Lauren went out of her way to do something nice for Avery. When she was finished and they were seated back at the table for breakfast I complimented Lauren for being such a great big sister.
Avery said yes, Lauren is my best friend.
I had tears in my eyes. I pray that they are always friends, even best friends.

Satan isn't winning this one...
I’ve had many of the words and scripture from my weekly bible study on my heart this week. We are studying Daniel and end time events right now. It is a phenomenal study.
This week’s study talked for a while about how we might start out with good intentions or be lured into something that we know isn’t right. But we say, oh, I’ll just see what it is like, or I’ll just dip my foot in.” But then before we know it we are in over our heads and find ourselves saying, “I never meant for it to go this far!” We didn’t mean for it to go that far, but Satan sure did. He wanted it to go further. That is Satan’s power over us. He can deceive us so easily. That humbled me.
But then Beth Moore (our study leader) also reminds us…there are times when Satan is at us, he is trying so very hard to take us where he wants. But it isn’t working, he’s used all his ways and we stay strong, faithful in Christ. And then it is his turn to sit and say, “I never meant for her to get that far!” He doesn’t want us to succeed. He doesn’t want us to great things for Christ. And when we do, then he is frustrated and humiliated. I love that.
Isaiah 42:6a says, “I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee…
(He holds my hand! How cool is that!)
Daniel 11:32b says, “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
I have no doubts that Satan has spent a GREAT deal of time in frustration since June 2nd over my mom. I think when my dad died Satan probably thought, “We’ll I’ve got her now.”
But I know that he is saying about my mom, “I never meant for her to get that far! I never meant for her to do this well!”
I am not crediting my mom for this. I credit her Savior and the fact that He is my mom’s focus. When she is wrapped in her ‘moments of midnight madness’ (C.S. Lewis – A Grief Observed) she turns to her Lord and Savior – just as she has always done. She is showing Christ through her grief.
Satan isn’t winning this one. Praise God!

Weekend pictures
Jordan and I have been having a lot of fun lately noticing all the ways that boys are so different from girls.
Sully is obsessed with anything that has a motor. He discovered the lawn mower this weekend. He watched Jordan mow for a very long time and then he wanted to give it a try!
He's still mommy's boy
Avery is such a climber. She is so proud of herself!
