Progress

Lauren has made great progress today.
Last night before bed I was really worried and upset that we were not still in the hospital.
She had a lot of nausea and pain. I wasn't expecting the nausea because she's always tolerated the anesthesia so well. But they said that because they messed with her ear bones and all of that - the nausea chance would be increased.

She did sleep very well last night but woke up this morning feeling really crummy.
I called the hospital because I just didn't feel that the pain med was doing its job. They told me I could increase the frequency she received it for 2 days. That has helped tremendously.
After lunch, a bath and a nap she looked like a new person!
And we are so relieved and happy!

Here's a picture of her shortly after she came back to us in recovery.
You can see the gigantic bandage. Can you blame her for not liking it?
She was simply pathetic when we saw her.
I wasn't prepared for that because after her 2 previous surgeries she was
a ball of energy within an hour.
Not so much this time.

And it was heart breaking and scary to see as her mom and dad.

Since Sully attended the ISU game with us the night before the surgery he came with us for the surgery. He was SO good the entire LONG day.
He didn't like seeing Lauren this way either.

As soon as we saw her he wanted to give her his bag of Cheetos and was trying to force her to play the DS. It was all extremely cute and sweet.
He gave her some of her first smiles after surgery.

Lauren said she was up for a night out at Freed's tonight.
So we headed out and she spent the entire time doing this...
It was a good distraction for her and probably really good therapy!
Really she is so incredibly sweet.
She just wants us close to her and cuddling.
I'm happy to oblige.

Oh, and Tess sort of liked the kitty too.
Poor, poor kitty.
He liked Lauren a whole lot more than he liked Tess.
